The Beginning of Nacho Mama’s
This family-owned restaurant was started by local resident Eric Phillips and his wife Nancy and his sorely missed, deceased business partner Tony Rainone. Starting off as a smaller 50 seat establishment, it later expanded to 190 seats, and a full liquor bar with 20 types of tequila, 30 bottled beers, eight wines by the glass, and six drafts for your enjoyment.
The restaurant has exploded in popularity in a very short period of time. People wanted a casual eatery they can love. The owners sought to create a definitive South Beach/Mexico vibe with their menu options and décor. The team buys locally and menu items are made fresh to order.
The restaurant has also embraced some amusing and fascinating local ideas to really turn a visit into an experience.
The Menu
A Tex Mex restaurant isn’t much if it doesn’t have the wide diverse menu to hold it up. You can order from a variety of authentic Mexican items, including stuffed peppers, tamales, ahi tuna tacos, and more.
Chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos, and salads help round out the staggering and varied menu. Some special items include the California Surf and Turf Burger and the Shrimp and Taco Enchiladas.
And of course, you can’t forget the classic NACHOS!!!

Marco Midnight Phenomenon
Nacho Mama’s has become the ideal place to celebrate “Marco Midnight” which ends up being somewhere around 9 p.m. Whether it was intentional or just a fun accident, Nacho Mama’s is all about that post 9 p.m. party.
To explain Marco Midnight – much of Marco Island is known to close down early. You may have heard a funny story about a New Year’s Eve party that caused Marco Island to light up with fun and excitement- until 9 p.m. The host yelled out “Happy New Year.” The people screamed in celebration. The music died, people started leaving, and the clock read 9:10 p.m.
However, for those with a later bedtime, Nacho Mama’s has become a top spot on the island for later night festivities. Every Thursday from 10 pm to midnight is Ladies Night with live entertainment until closing. Also, on Fridays and Saturdays after 10 pm to midnight, enjoy the ‘Super Weekend Late Night’ specials which include discounts on drinks and food items.
This spot is also unquestionably one of the best places to watch your favorite sport, with 5 big screen televisions throughout and food specials during game days.
Many guests collect at Nacho Mama’s around the evening and celebrate. It is like a tradition for many locals to end their evening with a burrito in hand, closing down on that last bite as the day comes to a close.
You too can celebrate the Marco Midnight phenomenon. At around 9 p.m., the restaurant celebrates Marco Island’s version of midnight. Few late-night restaurants in Marco do it better.
