The Mullet Festival at Stan’s Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant is a staple on Marco Island each January. This family-friendly event promises a unique addition to your itinerary, full of festivities that your group will remember for years to come. You’ll truly get to experience the Old Florida feel at this festival full of eats and entertainment.

The main attraction here is the delicious food, including fried and smoked mullet and tons of other fresh seafood varieties prepared by local vendors. There are also plenty of arts and crafts for you to remember your trip by, incredible live music from local artists, and the annual Buzzard Lope Dance Contest, ending with the crowning of the new Buzzard Lope Queen!

The entire festival celebrates the traditions established by Stan Gober, whose music was the inspiration for the festival. Bring the whole family out for this fun-filled weekend!

For 2020, the Mullet Festival will be held at Stan’s Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant, located at 221 West Goodland Drive in Goodland, Florida. Admission is free, and festivities will be held on Friday evening, January 24th, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday, January 25 and 26.

The Wall That Heals

The Wall That Heals

This is a special exhibit that brings education and community to the shores of Marco Island, and 2020 will be the 25th season of the wall that heals in Marco Island. This breathtaking monument includes a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, as well as a mobile education center. Come witness the more than 58,000 names of Americans who gave their lives in the Vietnam War.

The wall That Heals travels from community to community and is only in Marco Island for one weekend in February. The traveling trailer also transforms into a mobile education center with digital photo displays, an “in memory” plaque, a map of Vietnam, and more.

This exhibit is a great way to get the whole family involved in our country’s history and learn more about the sacrifices made by our fellow Americans. If you’re visiting Marco Island in February, this is one event that you simply cannot miss.

The wall That Heals will be in Marco Island from February 20th to February 23rd, 2020. It will be set up at 901 Park Avenue and will be open 24 hours a day.
